PATT Foundation: Empowering Adults Through Nature-Based Programs

August 20, 2024

At PATT Foundation we offer a comprehensive range of nature-based programs tailored specifically for adult service users. Our offerings include bushcraft, campfire cooking, nature investigation, mindfulness, communication around a campfire, yoga, aromatherapy and horticulture and more. A blend of outdoor activities that hopes to connect/reconnect adults to nature.  These programs are designed to foster a deep connection with nature while promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Our Adult Programs

Bushcraft: Learn essential survival skills, from building shelters to starting fires with natural materials. Skills such as whittling and safe tool use to exploring the wonders around us, foraging and plant/tree identification. Bushcraft fosters self-reliance, problem-solving, and a sense of accomplishment.

Campfire Cooking: Experience the joy of preparing and sharing meals around a campfire. From foraging for plants to game preparation. This activity encourages teamwork, creativity, and the appreciation of simple, wholesome food.

Nature Investigation: Engage in guided explorations of local flora and fauna. Nature investigation enhances observational skills, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the natural world. The site lies on the edge of a nature reserve with the Humber Estuary and woodland surrounding, there is plenty to see.

Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness techniques in a tranquil woodland setting. Mindfulness reduces stress, improves focus, and promotes a sense of inner peace.

Communication Around a Campfire: Participate in facilitated discussions sessions around a campfire. This fosters open communication, emotional expression, and a sense of community.

Yoga: Enjoy yoga sessions amidst the serene beauty of nature. Yoga improves physical flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.

Horticulture: Gardening is a wonderful way to connect with nature, and it offers numerous sensory and therapeutic benefits. My horticulture sessions will include:

  • Sensory Gardens: Planting and maintaining a variety of plants that stimulate the senses through touch, sight, smell, and sound.
  • Vegetable Growing: Learning to grow and care for vegetables, which promotes responsibility and provides a sense of achievement, the importance of understanding where our food comes from and learning the growing process from seed to fork.
  • Creative Planting: Engaging in fun activities like creating themed gardens (e.g. rock gardens, wildlife gardens, pollinator gardens) to spark imagination and creativity.

Aromatherapy: Experience the therapeutic benefits of essential oils derived from nature. Aromatherapy enhances relaxation, mood, and overall well-being.
