PATT is delighted to have received a £1,000 donation as part of Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to the work undertaken through the One ‘Hull’ of a Forest initiative.
PATT CEO, Dr Andrew Steel will be attending the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce AGM on Friday 28 February along with Emma Hardy MP for Hessel. This year the Chamber’s AGM is taking on a different form – opening up to non-members and taking the lead in the Energy Estuary’s ambition to become the world’s first net-zero carbon industrial cluster by backing the One Hull of a Forest initiative.
Chamber Chief Executive Dr Ian Kelly said: “We have a lot of heavy industry in and around the Humber Estuary, and I believe we all need to do our bit to reduce our carbon emissions and improve our environment. After the terrible floods across the country following the recent storms, there can be no doubt that global warming is affecting us now and we all need to do something about it”.
The AGM, usually a Chamber-members only event will be open to local businesses to join and hear more about PATT’s work, ask questions and learn how businesses can hit their corporate social responsibility and carbon emissions targets.
Dr Steel will explain how ‘carbon capture’ projects provide one solution for climate change but that the capital expenditure and lengthy time investment can proof prohibitive, while a tree will start removing carbon virtually straight away. PATT’s Northern Forest project aims to plant 50 million trees over 25 years – but this can only be achieved with the help of businesses, groups including schools and individuals.
